One day, one real theme, working software at the end of it. No weekend-long endurance tests, no vague prompts, no demos that are only slides.
Hackathons are disproportionately hard to run. Sourcing the right people, finding a room, wrangling sponsors, judging fairly and actually getting builders through the door is weeks of work for a single day of output. So most of them either do not happen or happen badly.
We think the format is worth defending. A day with a deadline and a room full of people who ship produces things that months of solo work does not. What needs fixing is everything around it.
Alongside running the events, we're building the operations layer underneath them: sourcing and outreach, registration and verification, judging, and the run of the day itself. Every event we run is also the test case for that tooling.
The goal is that organising a serious one-day hackathon takes an afternoon rather than a month, anywhere in the world. We're starting where we can watch it work up close.
San Francisco first, on purpose. The density of people building at the frontier here is unmatched, the feedback loop is measured in hours, and if the format does not work in this city it will not work anywhere. Other cities follow once it does.

Partners fund a track: a challenge and a prize in their name, with their product on the table as one of the tools people build with for the day. No packages and no tiers. If you want your product in the hands of a room of people building on it against a deadline, that is the whole pitch.
